So the UK radio ratings are back.
Stations received their first proper RAJAR results since the pandemic kicked in.
Everyone has mixed feelings about ratings. We hear all about the systems and whether they work well enough or not and blah blah blah.
For presenters...there's only one thought: "Am I up, down or the same?"
It's like a striker on a football team - you want the team to win, but if you score the only goal in a 5-1 loss...you're pleased with yourself.
Every presenter wants the station to do well...but (because this is your career) you want YOU to improve.
* If you've done well...be happy.
* If not so well....learn from it and look forward to getting better.
* Yes, it is a popularity contest...that's what creative competition creates.
If there are knees jerking in the 'big' office, try not to let it effect you. It all blows over until the next round.
We are all subject to the whim of the ratings book. It's part of the profession.
Could be worse... ;)
