Simon Young.

Last night, we heard the news from Dublin that former RTE 2FM DJ, Simon Young had passed away.

The first person to tweet about him was his good pal and Today FM morning presenter, Ian Dempsey: "A naturally deep thinking, funny soul and friend".

Barry Lang, another one of Simon's former on-air colleagues: "Simon was ahead of his time. Loved what he did and loved by everyone who knew him."

Ed Smith, Today FM: " A hugely talented and naturally gifted presenter and by all accounts a lovely lovely man."

Other words used to describe Simon included: 'Gentleman', 'Legend', 'A joy', 'Naturally gifted'.

My own dealing with Simon were brief. I would bump into him in the RTE studios and sometimes he would visit for a quick hello before (or during) a show!

Simon has left a legacy and made his mark.

I know when people pass, public comments are always complimentary...but you just know that not only are his tributes sincere, they are also heartfelt.

He really touched people.

Well done, Simon.You definitely made your mark and showed the ones left behind how to leave theirs.
