"...so let us know what YOU think"
How many times have you heard this/done this on the radio?
The 'Let us know' / 'Tell us' link.
* "76% of people have an item of clothing they've never worn. What do you own and have never worn?"
* "Most men secretly enjoy 'RomCom'movies as a guilty pleasure. What's your movie guilty-pleasure?"
* "Dog owners have cleaner homes than non-dog owners. What has your pet done to make your life better?"
No one calls. No one texts.
What do you do?
Here's what you do: You have the first two calls ready before you ask the question.
In other words...you Prep!!
Don't put yourself in the position where you have to invent text messages from nonexistent listeners or completely ignore the set-up and carry on without it.
Have content ready.
Example: It's Monday. You finished your gig. You know that tomorrow you will ask listeners the 'RomCom' question. Grab some texts from your show today that you weren't able to use. Call the listeners and ask them the question. Tell them you will use their call on the radio tomorrow at (whatever time).
Then, on Tuesday, before you ask the question on air...you know you have two answers ready-to-go!
> What makes callers call (besides a great hook)?
> Other callers!
Prep isn't just about knowing what's on TV tonight ;)
