Have you listened to an automated station recently? There are lots online, right?
How do they sound?
I'm guessing, for the most part, pretty slick and clean. Nice imaging, tight segues.
Some may be VT'd but most are nonstop music.
The problem with them is, after a while, you can feel disconnected from them. Sure, they serve their purpose - a background filler...a soundtrack as you go about your day.
For your actual 'listener' though, that is - the person in their car or their kitchen - the one thing missing is the human connection. That's what you bring to your radio station. Your stories, humour, pictures...that extra connection that the others don't have. Even the best VT has trouble holding its own against a live human being, speaking to me now.
Radio has many strengths but, in my view, it's number one asset is YOU.
Without you, it's a streaming service...and not the best one, either.
WITH you, it becomes a two-way live experience.
Use it well and you will advance. Make every link matter.
Anyone can VT "One the way another five classic hits".
Only YOU can tell your stories.
