Dave Kelly spent the last few decades at FM104 in Dublin rising from on-air to PD and eventually also taking over the reins of sister station Q102. Dave's tenure there ended before Christmas.
Liam Thompson has sat behind the big desk at Communincorp, RTE 2FM and Virgin UK over the years. I first met Liam when he produced the breakfast show on 98FM in Dublin.
Now they are joining forces to take over as Group Consultants for Bay Broadcasting in Ireland with a plan to bring both Classic Hits and Radio Nova into the new year and improve their fortunes. It will be interesting to see what they plan to do.
One point that I love about all of this is the fact that FM104 and 98FM have been at each other's throats since 1989. Both Liam and Dave have battled against each other in that time and now...they are colleagues. For me, this shows that radio is better when we join talents FOR something rather than against it.
Best of luck to the two lads. We'll be watching with great interest.
