Think about your day-to-day life and the people in it.
What makes those relationships work?
Emotion!
We laugh, cry, discuss, challenge, debate, have fun, make decisions...we do all of these and they provoke emotions in you and the other person.
Your listener is the same. They relate to emotions.
When you use emotion in your links, it creates a bond between you and them.
"On the way, three more great songs including Ed Sheeran" is not an emotion. It's a statement.
Putting pictures in your listener's head is the strongest tool you have for creating emotions. No one ever laughed or cried at a fact or statistic but they do react to something they can 'see' or feel.
"27% of families with two children under twelve say they won't holiday this year"/ "Can you imagine, after all we went through in 2020 if you could fly off to the sun with the kids and spend a week on the beach, with the warm breeze and clear blue skies? Imagine the feeling..."
Both are valid. But only the second sentence creates a picture and an emotion.
Pictures = emotion.
"People won't remember what you said. They will remember how you made them feel" - Maya Angelou.
