So? What's that got to do with radio?
Rangnick is regarded as one of the best thinkers in the game. His philosophies and tactics have inspired countless coaches who arrived after him.
He says:
* "The biggest source of untapped potential lies in the player's brain." - In Radio, your potential lies inside YOUR brain. How you interpret the 'tactics' laid out by your station format.
* "It doesn't matter how talented a player is. If your mentality is shit, forget about it." - We call this 'Lazy Radio'.
* "If you don't have the right mentality, you can forget about the inherited talent in your DNA" - Be the best you can be, on and off air, and don't consider yourself above others.
One other famous coach in England, Marcelo Bielsa, sums it up beautifully: "You need to have something of the amateur inside you".
Amateurs are excited and passionate. They do what they do for purely for the love of it.
* If you lose that passion and love for radio, you need to find it...re-discover it.
* In a business like this, it's essential to want to be on-air everyday.
* Any hesitation in that and your listener will pick it up through your voice, your tone and your content.
