Isn't that an odd thing to say?
Why would someone say they talk 'crap' on the radio?
Then, why put that in a Social Media bio?
"I talk crap on the radio because I’m too scared to get a real job " - that was the actual description. I'm sure the presenter, in this case, was trying to come across as funny and self-deprecating but it actually hits as needy and unsure.
It's similar to one we saw in the past that said "Just a fool talking rubbish on your radio".
What other profession talks itself down like that??
We are supposed to be communicators...the idea is to sound like a friend, right? Do any of your friends tell you that they are a 'fool or that they always 'talk crap'?
Your mission is to connect with people on the radio...one at a time.
A pilot's job is to fly you to your destination, one mile at a time. Imagine your pilot speaking on the intercom and saying: "Hello, it's me...the pilot. I'm a bit crap at this flying thing but we'll give it a go". You would be off the plane in a minute!
YES, I know this is meant to be funny and ironic but as a listener, it actually turns me away from you.
* Seeing yourself negatively allows others to see you that way too.
* The more willing you are to put yourself down, the less likely you are to notice when someone else puts you down.
* Some people might take advantage of your low- self-image.
* Why should listeners tune into you when you think you're awful at what you do?
* It doesn't inspire confidence that you are professional and will look after my listening experience very well.
There's no harm in occasionally making fun out of your personality or habits...but not permanently in your bio.
