Written by a well-known consultant.
It was supposed to help you as you prepare for a show.
First of all, it spoke of advertising revenue, then in-car listening, something about adherence to station policies and finally to ‘be yourself’ when you open the mic.
The piece was interspersed with words such as “Synergy”, “Deep Dive”, “Incentivise”, “Core Competency”, “Low hanging fruit” and “Earned Media”.
All in an article on how to sound better on air.
First thought was this: “Who is this person trying to impress?”
Second thought was: “How are these buzzwords helping?”
Third thought was: “This is absolute nonsense”.Can we cut the BS when it comes to advising on-air people on how to improve and grow?
Unless, of course, that's 'moving forward without a compass' ;)
