Tracey: Not many. Obama is big enough. Taylor Swift with younger girls maybe. Elon Musk? Tiger Woods? Ariana Grande? There aren't many in the world that are that big.
Nails: What does it tell us...besides the fact that Ronaldo is still so influential?
Tracey: His actions were global but your words on the radio also have an impact. You could say one thing that changes one person's day...or even their way of thinking. The old adage..."Think Before You Link" is spot on.
Nails: That's true. Fancy a Pepsi...??

UPDATE
We have been working with presenters recently on their ‘Brand’.
At first, that might seem like a strange thing for ‘Presenter Coaches’ to do. BUT, when you think about it - in 2021, there is so much noise and clutter and so many radio people online telling you about their new shows/old show/current show...it makes sense to stand out.
That’s what a brand does.
~ How important is a brand? ~
Take what happened at Euro2020 this week.
Cristiano Ronaldo moved some Coca Cola bottles to his left and out of camera shot. He then picked up a bottle of water and said “Agua”. Coke’s market share fell by $4Billion!!!
* Who is the bigger brand?
* Coke is the default brand for soft drinks globally.
* Ronaldo has his own brand - ‘CR7’, known globally.
Looking at that action and its consequence, you would have to say that CR7 is a bigger brand than Coke!!
So, yes - having a brand is important to how the world packages you.
You ARE a package...an entity. You are a look, a sound, a set of values. You are what you decide to portray. Your brand holds a lot of the ‘true’ you as well as marketing tactics and persuasion techniques.
Your brand needs to be established and then worked at constantly.
Look at radio stations.
* Their logo = their brand.
* The Format is the brand.
* Presenters are told to “Stay on brand”. Think of any company and (if they are doing it correctly) they have an instantly recognisable brand. Nike, Lidl, BBC.
You possibly have a ‘sort-of’ brand already. Your Facebook or Insta account is branding. The difference is a lot of these accounts are populated on the fly. In other words, there is no plan. No ‘On Purpose’ content. Being a brand will help you move further up the line in your radio career - not because you are manipulating but because you are helping people know you.
The faster I get to know you….the clearer your ‘message’...the better for you.
People want information NOW and if they have to go look for info on you, then the chances are they won’t bother...because the person next to you with the ‘brand’ has made it easier to find THEM!
oOo
We teach ‘Branding For Radio Presenters’ in three one-hour sessions. It could be the difference between being visible to the industry and invisible. No one hires people they can’t see!
