What happens when you have been very successful at one particular radio station...great ratings, listeners know and like you, management are happy with you....and then you move! Your head is turned by an offer...better money, new challenge, greater creative freedom.
Off you go.
Then, after a time, you realise...it isn't working!
The listener at your new station is different from the old place. You're having trouble connecting with them. The music difficult to work with and the office atmosphere is more corporate than you are used to. You begin to look back at the old station and miss it more and more.
What do you do?
This is happening right now to a Breakfast Show we know. All of the pre-show hype was positive and now...it's fallen a little flat. Not a disaster by any means but the "Sounded better at the other station" comments are showing up.
This is when you need to know 'Who' you are, 'Why' you do what you do and have the support of someone you trust.
We will all face challenges in our life and career...it's unavoidable.
Now is the time to prep for those inevitabilities.
Right now, figure out: "Who" you are on the radio and "Why" you do what you do on the radio.
It could help enormously later.
~ Radio isn't hard. It's just been made difficult ~
