Bauer Re-invent Radio.

"Re-invent".

It's a big claim to make, isn't it?

That's what Bauer is saying about their new initiative.

Here's how Graham Bryce, Group MD at Bauer describes it:

"This week, we’re reinventing #radio for music-lovers as #ScalaRadio#JazzFm#PlanetRock and #KerrangRadio launch premium #subscription online radio services in a pioneering move that will allow listeners to skip up to 6 tracks per hour via app and web listening, even on live radio. 📻 With no ad-breaks 24/7, each of the new services offers an additional 20 exclusive spin-off radio stations across genres and music moods, plus more than 30 on-demand shows, documentaries, artist interviews and special programming ready to be unlocked per brand".

No ad-breaks...skip songs...on-demand shows. Cost is £3.99 per month.

What do you think? Would you pay for a service like this? More to the point, do you think Listeners will pay another few quid for another 'special service'?

Tracey has some very interesting thoughts on this and will write about it later today on this blog.

Here's the official link.

  1. I can do all that with my Deezer subscription. Nothing new here.

    1. That's the big challenge, as far as I can see. Convincing people to shell out more cash for a service they don't actually 'need'.

  2. Does it still have presenters, to bring it some personality? Personality goes a long way...
