Temporarily On Air.

We spent Sunday listening to Easy Radio...a temporary FM station based in Dublin.

The Broadcast Authority of Ireland (BAI) feel that by licencing a 'niche' format on FM for a specific amount of time (in this case, every weekend up to mid-July), that it is doing the listening public a favour. It's not! It's a half-baked attempt to justify their status as a regulator...and is not good enough.

However...

Easy Radio acquired the latest 'Temp Licence' and are doing a great job with it.

Sunday morning, Paul Duffy played two hours of Motown and Northern Soul...neither genre are on my playlists of choice but Paul's enthusiasm and passion won me over. He held 'eye contact' on-air and brought me with him on his journey. Chris Adams followed with love songs and, again, his enthusiasm and joy at each song came shining through and we were happy to join in and listen.

Temporary licences, as a concept, do nothing for me. Either give a licence or don't. But that's for another day.

Congrats to the guys at Easy Radio and here's to the next few months, which we hope you enjoy to the max.
