Networking.

We were thinking this morning about networking.

Tracey is passionate about this:

"There are so many audio platforms these days that you can feel like a needle in a haystack. All this talent but there's so much competition and newer presenters don't know what radio station to apply to first...or which one will even suit them. They're looking out for advice and direction but feel invisible. My advice, always to them is, to get on LinkedIn. Use it as a search directory for radio...the industry. Get connecting. Our whole ethos is 'Connecting the World of Radio'...it's the only way you'll get noticed. Start with a 'Like', a 'Well Done' on a peer's achievement which can lead to a message to say "Great to connect" or "Like what you did there". Connection goes a long way. Connect today".

I'll back that up with my own stat (and one I tell all the people we coach) - of the eight full-time radio jobs I held in Ireland, the UK and Canada, I was hired for SIX of them because I knew the person hiring. Six out of eight came down to connections. That's what networking does for you.
