Know When it's Time To Go (A Lesson from Nick Grimshaw.)

We were listening to a national afternoon show at the start of the week and...well....it sounded a little...shall we say...'dated'. There - said it!

The host has been on air for decades (still has an audience, granted) and has been utilising the same tricks for the majority of that time. It made us wonder "When is it time to go?"

Today, we have all been given a great example of knowing when the time has arrived.

Nick Grimshaw announced that he is to leave BBC Radio 1 after fourteen years.

When he took over the breakfast show from Chris Moyles, he was slammed by listeners and media. He survived, thrived and re-invented himself on afternoons. Now, he feels the time has come to make way for a new generation and that's where Jordan North and Vick Hope come in - the new afternoon hosts.

Well done to 'Grimmers' for such a stellar run at the Beeb. The majority of us can only wonder what that must have been like. Best wishes to him as he moves ahead and in a dozen years (or less), we'll be welcoming another new show. It's the way the business runs.

Enjoy what you are doing. Do it well. Then, when the time comes to move on, do it graciously and with style.
