"There are no jobs in radio" - until you get one.
"Money is rubbish in radio" - until you earn the good money.Radio is no different from any other business.
They are all tough. Tough to get into. Tough to advance in and tough to maintain yourself in. That's why they are businesses.
So, what can you do?
* Network. Get to know everyone.
* Train. Learn everything. Then start again because it will have all changed.
* Brand. In 2021, you need to stand out. Speaking of which...
* Stand Out. Represent something. A feeling, a philosophy, a 'look'; (yes, even on radio). Be funny. Be arrogant. Be SOMEthing.
* Make it easy for employers to find you.
* Get a job. Any job. Start! Then, once you have that job, work on getting a better job.
* Play the game. It IS a game. Learn the rules. Play it well. You'll win for a while, you'll lose for a while. That's how games work.
* Update your CV and Demo. You still need them to be on point.
* Pick one Social Media platform and kill it. Don't let SM kill you.
* Screwed up? Don't worry. We all have. Learn and move on.
* Know the difference between good advice and bad. Good advice occurs when you actually ask for it.
