I tweeted this over the weekend: Listening to a 20-year-old on a CHR station who just said "Stay tuned". Where are newer presenters getting these phrases from? What does 'Stay Tuned' even mean any more? Waiting for "Keep it locked" to show up.
Not long after, we logged onto iRadio in Ireland and our minds were blown by the mid-afternoon presenter - Brian McEvoy.
THIS is what we had been waiting for.
First time hearing him on-air and he delivered every single time.
First of all, loved the fact that he didn't disguise his accent. He sounded 'real'. Each link was prepped, constructed and delivered on point. His energy reaching just the right level without sounding hyper. No false laughing, no unnecessary cliches or crutches, great Threatre of the Mind by using light production elements (it's possible to 'over-do' the production stuff and sound fake). Funny, focussed and very 2021. That last part is SO important.
This is a guy headed for national radio...sooner rather than later.
Made quite the difference after that original tweet :)

Yes brilliant listen to him all the time a genius.
